Possible Salmonella outbreak at Club Playa Blanca Lanzarote

Holidaymakers have reported a possible salmonella outbreak at the four-star Club Playa Blanca in Lanzarote, where it is believed that people were taken ill after eating at the hotel between the 6th and 14th January, 2010.

People have been prescribed antibiotics by a local chemist, who said that a number of people staying at the Club Playa Blanca had complained of sickness, vomiting and stomach cramps, after eating at the hotel.

Some holidaymakers also confirmed that others staying at the hotel had been struck down with a similar illness, although they could not confirm it was Salmonella.

Complaints were also made against the Club Playa Blanca in Lanzarote in August and September, 2008.

A spokesperson for Thomas Cook said the illness was down to a bug at the hotel, and was not linked to the food.

Illness outbreak at Los Gigantes Hotel Tenerife

Holidaymakers have suffered illness while staying recently at the Los Gigantes Hotel in Tenerife.
The popular 225-bed hotel is popular with visitors who want an all-inclusive holiday experience, and is the main hotel in Los Gigantes resort.

High numbers of holidaymakers have reported suffering from violent vomiting, severe diarrhoea and stomach cramps, which have left some of them confined to their rooms and others hospitalised. Food poisoning is said to be responsible for the illness outbreak at the Los Gigantes, and many guests are now seeking compensation for loss of enjoyment of their holiday and medical expenses.

If the illness originated at the hotel Los Gigantes in Tenerife, holidaymakers could be entitled to substantial payouts, as it is the responsibility of the tour operator and the hotel management to ensure the wellbeing of guests. When large numbers of visitors complain of illness at the same hotel, and at the same time, there is obviously a major problem.

One holidaymaker had booked a week´s holiday at the Los Gigantes, and ended up spending four days of it in a hospital bed, being fed antibiotics via an intravenous drip.
If you have stayed at the Los Gigantes Hotel in Tenerife and suffered illness, including food poisoning or gastroenteritis, you can claim compensation with Farnworth Rose Personal Injury Solicitors.

Food poisoning can be avoided when food is cooked properly in a clean and hygienic environment, and if you have suffered illness through the negligence of someone else, then you should claim compensation for your pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment of your holiday. We are experts in travel law and in holiday illness and accident compensation, and if it is proved that food poisoning has transpired at the Los Gigantes Hotel due to negligence and failings in food hygiene practices, you could claim substantial compensation. Norovirus outbreak on the Boudicca Cruise Ship

Three outbreaks of Norovirus and gastroenteritis have struck down passengers on the Boudicca Cruise Ship during winter. Over 500 passengers have been taken ill with the virus during three winter cruises onboard the Boudicca luxury cruise ship, despite owners, Fred Olsen, insisting the ship was safe.

According to Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, the Boudicca was deep-cleaned twice following outbreaks of Norovirus, but the virus continues to return. Three people also died during Boudicca´s latest cruise, but the company said the deaths were not linked to Norovirus.

Derek and Marina Eaton contracted the virus during the last December cruise on what was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime. The couple had booked the most expensive suite available on the Boudicca at £10,155 for a 14 day trip to Madeira and the Canaries, and Mr Eaton described it as a ´cruise from hell.´

On the first of three cruises in December, the Boudicca departed from Portsmouth on December 6th, and 180 out of 800 passengers were hit by gastroenteritis. When the 28,000 ton ship returned to Portsmouth on December 18th, it was ´deep-cleaned´ according to the owners and later that day, departed on a four-day mini-cruise to Amsterdam. Out of 827 passengers on this cruise, at least 50 were taken ill with Norovirus.

The Boudicca was then deep-cleaned again before the ill-fated cruise which left Portsmouth for Madeira on the 22nd December, and this time, 289 out of 795 passengers were diagnosed with the stomach bug. The ship returned to Portsmouth a day early.

Fred Olsen blamed passengers for bringing the virus aboard, although the latest outbreak was the seventh time in the past year that one of the firm´s vessels has been hit by illness. Another outbreak on the Boudicca happened in October.
Mr Eaton, 75, a company owner, from Woburn Sands in Bedfordshire, said he and his wife had been looking forward to spending New Year's Eve in Madeira to see the island's fireworks display, which is said to be the largest in the world.

But after falling ill, they spent the night confined to their cabin and missed the display. They had to spend a total of four days in their cabin and missed three of the six islands on the cruise. Mr Eaton said: 'The management of the company should have cancelled the cruise once the first set of passengers fell ill.

'I don't believe for one second that they deep-cleaned the ship because there wasn't sufficient time.'

Possible Cryptosporidium outbreak at Aqua Fantasy Aqua Park Hotel Kusadasi Turkey

We have received complaints from holidaymakers who stayed at the Aqua Fantasy Aqua Park Hotel in Kusadasi Turkey during September, 2009.

Why not phone 08000 154321 Farnworth Rose Solicitors or click here www.yourholidayclaims.co.uk to submit a question

Cryptosporidium is said to have broken out at the Aqua Fantasy Hotel in Kusadasi, which left holiday-makers suffering symptoms including diarrhoea, stomach cramps and sickness. Cryptosporidium is a parasite which can cause severe illness in people with compromised immune systems, and symptoms can come and go for up to four weeks.

Cryptosporidium can be spread from an infected person to others if they come into contact with the faeces of the individual carrying the parasite. Infection can occur if someone swallows food or water contaminated with Cryptosporidium. If a baby or child has the infection, parents and child carers need to be particularly careful when changing nappies or wiping the child's bottom after going to the toilet.

If you think you have the infection, you should wash your hands carefully after using the toilet and before preparing or serving food to make sure you don't infect anyone else. It would be a good idea to disinfect the bathroom every day until you are clear of infection, and disinfect surfaces where you prepare food.
If you have suffered any symptoms of Cryptosporidium, food poisoning, gastroenteritis or any other illness while staying at the Aqua Fantasy Aqua Park Hotel at Kusadasi Turkey, during 2008 or 2009, we can help you claim holiday illness compensation. We specialise in holiday illness compensation claims and we are experts in the complicated field of travel law. We work on a no win no fee basis, so you get 100% of the compensation.
