"If you are ill at a holiday hotel in Egypt we can help you claim compensation from the tour operator"
Salmonella confirmed and possible Shigella at Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Resort Egypt
Farnworth Rose Solicitors have been contacted by a family who suffered illness at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Hotel in February 2011. When they returned to the UK, the family´s young son was confirmed to be suffering from Salmonella food poisoning.
A further report from online travel guide and research website, Trip Advisor, also indicates that at least one holidaymaker was confirmed as suffering from Shigella infection when they arrived back in the UK.
Farnworth Rose reported cases of gastric illness at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Hotel in September 2010 and suspected food poisoning was also reported. Repeat outbreaks of illness in 2011 have caused distress for many holidaymakers who are now seeking compensation from the tour operators.
Holidaymakers have also complained that there were serious staffing issues at the Sunrise Makadi Bay and returning holidaymakers complained of ´insufficient staff members´ to cope with the numbers of holidaymakers at the hotel. Service in the buffet restaurant was said to be very slow and the food was served lukewarm at best and often cold.
