Holiday illness at Rhodes Holiday Village

Holidaymakers have contacted us who suffered severe symptoms of gastric illness while staying at the Rhodes Holiday village in Kolymbia, Rhodes during June and July, 2010.
Over 60 holidaymakers were rushed to hospital after becoming ill with symptoms of diarrhoea, stomach cramps and severe vomiting. Cryptosporidium was suspected. The illness was thought to be so serious, that the hotel called in additional medical staff to deal with the situation, and to help the large number of holidaymakers who continued to fall ill. Independent hygiene specialists were sent in to determine the cause of the outbreak.
