"Cryptosporidium causes hundreds of cases of illness among holidaymakers abroad"
Cryptosporidium at Holiday Village Lanzarote
JULY 2011
We have been instructed by holidaymakers returning from Flamingo Beach Holiday Village in Lanzarote, who have suffered serious holiday illness during July, 2011.

Some holidaymakers suffered severe gastric illness, and symptoms included: diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps, while staying at the Lanzarote Holiday Village. The outbreak was described as a ´bug´ by the tour representatives at the hotel.
Several holidaymakers who were taken ill were suffering from Cryptosporidium infection, which is commonly contracted from dirty swimming pools or contaminated food.
