Salmonella and ear infections ruin Dominican Republic holidays at ClubHotel Riu Bambu

Recently returned holidaymakers have taken to hotel review TripAdvisor reporting to have suffered in outbreaks of illness at the five-star ClubHotel Riu Bambu.

In a particularly worrying report, one Scottish holidaymaker claims to have contracted salmonella food poisoning from the “lackluster” food on offer. The stricken guest adds that she was “unwell for the better part of the holiday.”

Another recent guest bluntly states that the food was “horrible, we got food poisoning.” The appalled holidaymaker vows to “never again” return to this resort and even claims to have “found a dead roach on a plate where the clean plates are kept.”

Reports of poor pool hygiene are also rife online.

“The pool is a major health hazard,” writes one holidaymaker adding “there’s bugs and a film covering the top of the water and I know a lot of people picked up ear infections from swimming in it.”
